Metadata Fields
Metadata fields are the structured fields used to describe and classify documents in Docwize.
Users may encounter and update metadata in different contexts depending on their role and the process being followed. In some cases this happens in document-level dialogs such as Document Details, while in others it may happen through workflows, records, upload flows, or other task-specific interfaces.
Common metadata fields
Examples of standard document metadata include:
- document number
- document date
- project
- type
- from / to / CCs
- reference number
- revision number
- description
- folders
- locations
See the Document Details page for a fuller overview of standard metadata fields presented in that document-level view.
Standard vs custom metadata
Some metadata is available by default, while other fields are created and maintained through configuration.
