Interfaces
Interfaces are interactive views that can combine charts, data grids, and other components in a single layout. They are configured by administrators and appear in the Explorer alongside dataviews. Unlike dataviews, which display flat data grids, interfaces can contain multiple components arranged across sections.
Finding interfaces in Explorer
Interfaces appear in the Reports & Interfaces tab of the Explorer sidebar. To access it, open Explorer and switch to the Reports & Interfaces tab.
In the sidebar, interfaces are listed under named groups or modules. They are distinguished from dataviews by an arrow-out icon (↗) next to their name. Clicking an interface opens it in the main content area as a tab.
If no interfaces appear in your Explorer, either none have been configured for your instance or your group does not have access to them. Contact your administrator.
What interfaces can contain
An interface is divided into sections. Each section can contain one or more of the following components, depending on how it was configured:
| Component | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Chart | A visual chart — such as a donut, bar, or radar chart — displaying data from a virtual view. |
| Data grid | A tabular view of records with filterable, sortable columns. |
| Legend | A key for a chart, with a search field to filter legend entries. |
| Note | A freetext note or description added by the administrator. |
Interacting with a data grid
Data grid components within an interface share the same controls as other grids in Docwize.
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Search | Filters rows by keyword across visible columns. |
| Filter icon (▼ on column header) | Opens a filter for that column. |
| Sort icon (⋮⋮ on column header) | Sorts the grid by that column. |
| Grid view / List view icons | Toggles the display format of the grid. |
| Filter icon (toolbar) | Opens the global filter panel for the section. |
| ⋮ (more options) | Additional options for the section or grid. |
| Row count | Displayed at the bottom right of the grid. Shows the total number of rows returned. |
Interacting with a chart
Charts display data visually. If a legend is present alongside a chart, the legend's Search legend field filters which categories are highlighted.
Tab controls
When an interface is open as a tab:
| Control | Description |

| × (close) | Closes the interface tab. |
| Refresh icon | Reloads the interface with the latest data. |
| Download icon (↓) | Downloads the section's data, where available. |
